


RM Sotheby’s first-ever auction in Dubai witnessed remarkable success, with rare cars and watches fetching over $17 million (Dh62 million).
Notably, three supercars surpassed Dh10 million in sales, marking a significant milestone in the region’s collector market.
The auction star was the exclusive 2016 Koenigsegg Agera RSR, one of only three ever made, which commanded an impressive $3.38 million (Dh12.4 million).
The iconic 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss followed closely behind, achieving a record-breaking $3.211 million (Dh11.784 million). Completing the top three was the formidable 2023 Aston Martin Valkyrie Coupé, securing $3.07 million (Dh11.266 million).
Dubai’s burgeoning reputation as a hub for collectors of luxury items, including arts, supercars, and watches, was underscored by the auction’s success.
The city’s allure has attracted numerous auction houses to showcase their rarest offerings in the emirate, ensuring optimal returns for sellers and enthusiasts alike.
Peter Wallman, chairman of RM Sotheby’s UK and EMEA, expressed enthusiasm over the overwhelming response to the inaugural sale, highlighting the region’s passion for collector cars and the appeal of live auction experiences.
The event’s success reaffirms the growing interest in acquiring unique items within the region’s thriving collector community.
Aside from the top-selling supercars, other noteworthy transactions included the 2017 Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 Coupé, fetching $2.142 million (Dh7.86 million), and the rare 2022 Ferrari 812 Competizione, surpassing expectations with a sale of $1.467 million (Dh5.383 million).
In addition to the automotive marvels, the auction featured a selection of ten exquisite watches. Among them, the standout piece was the Rolex Daytona UAE, commanding an impressive $300,000 (Dh1.1 million) due to its historical significance and unique design featuring the UAE coat of arms.
With an impressive 88.9% of all lots sold, RM Sotheby’s inaugural Dubai auction grossed $17.381 million (Dh63.788 million), further cementing the city’s status as a premier destination for collectors and enthusiasts.
