Dubai Designer Envisions Green Oasis Metro Stations

Adnan Abbas, a designer based in Dubai, has unveiled a visionary concept of transforming Metro stations into vibrant pockets of greenery using artificial intelligence (AI) and giant terrariums.

Dubbed ‘Everyday Green,’ this concept aims to enhance passengers’ daily commute experience while promoting harmony between urban infrastructure and nature.

Harmonizing Nature with Urban Life:

Abbas envisions installing giant terrariums and glass enclosures containing soil and plants within Metro stations to create a serene oasis amidst the bustling cityscape. 

These lush green spaces will offer a refreshing retreat for passengers, fostering a sense of calm and rejuvenation during their commute. 

By seamlessly integrating nature into the urban environment, Abbas aims to elevate the aesthetic appeal of Metro stations while promoting mental well-being among commuters.

Concept Origin and Inspiration:

The inspiration for ‘Everyday Green’ stemmed from Abbas’s daily Metro rides, during which he observed commuters’ fatigue and stress. 

Seeking to uplift their mood and enhance their journey, Abbas conceived the idea of introducing terrariums within Metro stations to introduce greenery and tranquility into the bustling transit hubs. 

Drawing on his background as a photographer, Abbas utilized AI to visualize his concept, showcasing passengers enjoying the lush greenery as they await trains.

Advocating for Sustainability and Aesthetics:

Abbas is optimistic that the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will consider his concept and implement it to create a greener and more aesthetically pleasing urban landscape. 

By incorporating terrariums into Metro stations, Dubai can showcase its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship while enhancing the commuter experience. 

Abbas sees this initiative as a testament to Dubai’s innovative spirit and willingness to embrace unconventional ideas to enhance city living.
