With gusts exceeding 110 kilometers per hour, Storm Kathleen canceled approximately 140 flights to and from the UK and Ireland.
Due to the adverse weather conditions, flights from Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham, and several other cities were significantly disrupted. The Met Office published a yellow weather warning, further emphasizing the severity of the situation.
Following the diversion on April 6, affected passengers were offered hotel accommodations as Emirates assessed the situation.
The airline scheduled the resumption of the flight to Glasgow on April 7, contingent upon the prevailing weather conditions.
Emirates voiced regret for the inconvenience caused and emphasized the paramount importance of passenger and crew safety.
Among other UAE carriers, Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airways operate direct flights to various cities across the UK.
Meanwhile, London’s Heathrow Airport issued advisories urging passengers to adhere to specified arrival times to mitigate congestion amid the flight disruptions caused by Storm Kathleen.
