The dates for Eid Al Fitr have been officially announced in Australia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Australian Fatwa Council has confirmed the sighting of the new moon, while the Moon sighting committee in the UAE is set to convene to determine the actual date of Eid Al Fitr based on lunar observations.
According to the Australian Fatwa Council, Wednesday, April 10, will mark the first day of Eid Al Fitr in Australia. The new moon was not sighted, leading to the determination that Tuesday, April 9, will be the last day of the Month of Ramadan.
After conducting inquiries with local and global observatories, the Council announced that it would provide precise timings for the birth and setting of the new moon in Sydney and Perth.
In the UAE, the Moon sighting committee is scheduled to meet on the evening of Monday, April 8, to observe the night sky for the crescent moon.
If the new moon is sighted, Ramadan will end in 29 days, with Eid Al Fitr falling on Tuesday, April 9. However, if the moon is not spotted, the holy month will last 30 days, and Eid Al Fitr will be marked on Wednesday, April 10.
