Airspace Closures Disrupt UAE-Based Airlines’ Operations

Recent temporary closures of airspaces in the region have led to flight cancellations and reroutings by UAE-based airlines, impacting travel to destinations including Tel Aviv, Amman, Iran, Iraq, and Jordan. 

The disruptions come amid escalating tensions, with Iran reportedly initiating an airborne attack against Israel in retaliation for an alleged Israeli strike on its Damascus consulate.

Flight Disruptions:

Due to airspace closures, Flydubai was forced to return two flights destined for Amman, Jordan, and Tel Aviv, Israel, to Dubai. Similarly, Etihad Airways canceled services to Tel Aviv and Amman, rerouting European and North American flights to overfly Saudi Arabia and Egypt to mitigate disruptions. Emirates also canceled and rerouted flights, prioritizing customer assistance amidst the evolving situation.

Safety Measures:

Etihad Airways emphasized its commitment to safety, stating that flights only operate through approved airspace. 

The airline advised passengers to check flight statuses on its website and assured continuous monitoring of security and airspace updates. 

Emirates echoed similar sentiments, prioritizing customer welfare while monitoring the situation closely.
