Stay Updated: New Rules Introduced in the UAE in 2024

As the UAE continues to evolve, several new rules and regulations have been introduced in 2024 to enhance safety, sustainability, and convenience for residents and visitors alike. Here’s what you need to know:

Golden Visa Update: 

Dubai has revised the requirements for the 10-year Golden Visa, eliminating the Dhs1 million down payment previously needed for property investors. 

Now, investors qualify with property valued over Dhs2 million, making the residency option more accessible to a wider range of investors.

E-scooter Ban: 

Effective March 1, the RTA has banned using and carrying e-scooters on Dubai metro and tram services. 

This measure seeks to ensure the safety of commuters using public transport systems, although no indication has been given regarding e-scooter usage on buses.

Single-Use Plastic Bag Ban: 

Starting January 1, the import and acquisition of single-use plastic bags are prohibited across Dubai, aligning with the emirate’s commitment to environmental sustainability. 

Exceptions include thin-film rolls for packaging specific items, while non-compliance may result in fines. Also, non-plastic single-use products will be banned from June 1, 2024.

Paid Parking in Dubai Mall:

In collaboration with Emaar Malls, Salik is introducing paid parking at Dubai Mall, one of the world’s largest malls. 

The implementation will feature an automated barrier-free system, with charges deducted directly from users’ Salik accounts via vehicle plate recognition. The rollout is expected in the third quarter of 2024.

UAE Raffles and Prize Draws Paused: 

Mahzooz, a popular lucky draw in the UAE, has temporarily suspended operations since January 1, 2024, to comply with gaming regulations. 

This pause aligns with efforts to establish a well-regulated gaming environment in the country and reflects changes in regulatory mandates.
