UFC Returns to Abu Dhabi with Exciting Bantamweight Bout

UFC enthusiasts in Abu Dhabi are gearing up for an electrifying summer as the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) makes its highly anticipated return to the city. 

The event, set to take place on Saturday, August 3, at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island, promises an exhilarating showdown between top-ranked bantamweights.

The spotlight shines on the clash between No. 2 ranked bantamweight Cory Sandhagen and the formidable No. 9 ranked contender Umar Nurmagomedov. 

With an impressive 17-4 record, including a victory over MMA veteran Frankie Edgar, Sandhagen faces the undefeated Umar Nurmagomedov, cousin of legendary lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who boasts an unblemished record after 17 fights.

This is Abu Dhabi’s second UFC event in less than twelve months. It promises an action-packed fight card featuring some of the sport’s most talented athletes.

Historic Milestone: 

The upcoming UFC Fight Night in Abu Dhabi is the city’s first-ever UFC Fight Night and the 18th event to be hosted in the UAE capital. 

It follows the historic UFC 294 Makhachev vs Volkanovski faceoff in October 2023, where Islam Makhachev defended his lightweight title against Volkanovski in a sold-out event that ended with a dramatic KO victory for Makhachev.

The event is a testament to the strong partnership between UFC and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), established in 2019 and extended until 2028.
