Event organizers in Abu Dhabi will continue to benefit from the waiver of tourism fees on sold tickets until December 31, 2024, according to an report by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi).
The extension aims to stimulate growth in the sector by relieving organizers of the 10% tourism tax typically charged on ticket sales.
Saleh Mohammed Al Geziry, Director-General of Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, emphasized the importance of providing ongoing support to event partners and organizers to sustain the tourism and entertainment ecosystem in the emirate.
The waiver extension underscores the commitment to accelerating growth in this vital sector.
While benefiting from the fee waiver, event organizers must adhere to regulations governing event licensing through the Abu Dhabi Events Licensing System.
Compliance includes declaring event revenues, submitting financial statements, and cooperating with designated auditors to verify revenue accuracy, ensuring transparency and accountability.
The tourism fee waiver aligns with broader initiatives aimed at fostering the expansion of Abu Dhabi’s tourism and events industry.
Additional incentives include reductions in tourism and municipality fees for hotels, along with updates to the holiday homes policy.
These measures aim to provide a conducive environment for growth and innovation within the tourism and events sector.
